If pattern making was only about making the perfect fit for each body morphology or posture, we would tend to have only one style totally optimized for this goal, but marketing trends and branding ask every company to bring its own identity and added value to its market.
Dealing with those requirements pushed our team to find some fast and efficient solutions to develop more and more patterns, based on free-hand drawing fashion designs, allowing us to flatten any shape drawn over our virtual mannequins.
Nevertheless, as long as we’ll work with 2D fabrics or neoprene, there will still be some shapes which cannot be flattened. At least, our software show our designers where the flattening problem is and guide their design to bring perfect Fit and Design together.
In order to keep our initial 3D design the same along the optimization, blue cutting lines illustrated above are not influenced by this process, contrarily to the red wire lines which vary depending on the optimization rate.
